How to Troubleshoot a GE Coffee Maker

GE manufactures a line of coffee makers intended for household use. If a GE coffee maker fails to perform as intended, troubleshoot the appliance. Some issues require only minor adjustments or repairs. Inspect the power cord before attempting to make other repairs. If the cord is visibly damaged, unplug it and discontinue use. Have the appliance serviced if the cord is damaged or troubleshooting fails to resolve the issue. Contact GE about where to send your small appliance for repairs.

Leaking Around Filter Basket

Step 1

Remove the filter basket it and reinsert it properly. If the basket is not inserted correctly, it will leak.

Step 2

Clean the filter basket with a damp cloth to remove any coffee grounds on the edge of the filter.

Step 3

Use coffee that is not finely ground. Coffee that is ground too fine can clog the filter.

Step 4

Place the carafe on the warming plate within 30 seconds if using the drip stop valve function. When the carafe is removed when using the drip stop valve function, water continues to enter the filter basket and will overflow after 30 seconds.
