STIHL is a world-wide manufacturer of outdoor power equipment such as chainsaws, trimmers and leaf blowers. According to the company's website, the best-selling most popular chain saw it manufacturers is the "Farm Boss" model MS 290. The unit is designed for limbing, felling trees and bucking firewood. More powerful than an occasional-use model, the Farm Boss has a list of standard features and product specifications.
Standard features built into the MS 290 include, toolless fuel and oil caps with retainers, adjustable automatic bar and chain oiler, side-access chain tensioner, IntelliCarb compensating carburetor and a forged connecting rod with caged needle bearings. Each model is equipped with a 2-cycle engine, and STIHL recommends a fuel-to-oil mixing ratio of 50 to 1. The company also suggests using STIHL brand 2-cycle oil, because it has been specially formulated to run in its products.
