Possums are wild marsupials that can grow to be as large as a cat. As nocturnal animals, possums are notorious for invading properties to dig through trash, bother pets and eat plants. These animals make a mess and can carry disease onto your property and even into your house. Take a couple steps to keep them out of your yard or to repel them once they get there.
Boil two liters of water and add at least 4 tbsp. of loose-leaf Lapsang souchong tea. Allow the tea to cool and pour it into a spray bottle.
Create an alternative to the tea solution by mixing 1 tbsp. of fish sauce into one liter of water, or 2 tbsp. of crushed garlic or hot chili in 1 liter of hot water. Tabasco sauce can be painted onto wood as an additional deterrent.
Spray any of the mixtures over the plants the possum has been eating, or over the area it's inhabiting. Reapply every two weeks, or after rain.
