How to Troubleshoot a Plate Compactor

Nina Nixon

Your plate compactor is made to last when compacting gravel and soil for construction and landscaping projects. Even so, it is common to have engine start-up problems or other issues after the machine has been in service for a while.

With a little routine maintenance, you can stave off or repair many mechanical breakdowns. Take a few moments to get your plate compactor running close to its original tip-top form.

Allow the engine to cool before you apply these steps.

Adding the wrong type of fuel can cause your plate compactor's engine to overheat. Always use the type of fuel recommended in your machine's user manual.

Follow all warnings, dangers, and cautions listed on the machine and in its user manual to avoid personal injury.
