The adhesive used on 3M's 300LSE tape adheres to multiple surfaces including plastics, metal, wood and structural foams. Preheating material surfaces to the optimal temperature will aid the adhesive to create a bond. Debris residing on the surface of the material to receive the tape will reduce the contact area between the tape's adhesive and the base material. Using the correct combination of heat and cleanliness will ensure the tape makes a strong bond to the base material.

Step 1

Pour solvent cleaner onto a clean rag.

Step 2

Wipe the area of the material where you will install the 3M 300LSE tape with the solvent-dampened rag. Apply additional solvent to the rag to ensure you have a clean bonding surface for the tape. Allow the area to dry before continuing.

Step 3

Plug in a hair dryer. Hold the end of the hair dryer 6 to 8 inches from the cleaned surface of the material. Heat the material until it is hot to the touch.

Step 4

Press one end of the 3M 300LSE tape to the heated surface of the material. Push the tape onto the heated surface with a plastic squeegee to remove air bubbles from the tape.

Step 5

Wipe over the applied tape with a clean rag to ensure the adhesive bonds to the material.
