How to Clean Fiberglass Bathtubs with Vinegar

Fiberglass bathtubs are durable and versatile, fitting in with nearly any bathroom design. Fiberglass is nonporous, making the bathtub easy to clean because stains and residue will not be absorbed by the fiberglass. Most commercial bathtub cleaning products are effective, but many of them contain harsh chemicals. A safer, healthier option is to use a homemade cleaning solution in which vinegar is the main ingredient.

A vinegar solution will clean fiberglass effectively.

Step 1

Add equal parts of vinegar and water to a spray bottle, along with 2 tablespoons of dish soap. The vinegar disinfects and deodorizes, and the soap cuts through the dirt, water spots and soap scum.

Step 2

Tighten the lid on the bottle and shake gently.

Step 3

Spray the entire surface of the bathtub.

Step 4

Scrub the bathtub with a nylon scrubber. The nylon is slightly abrasive, so it will cut through the dirt and soap scum without scratching the fiberglass.

Step 5

Rinse the tub with fresh water.
