How to Clean a Tea Kettle With Vinegar

Vinegar is a great natural cleaning agent. Because of its acidic nature, vinegar dissolves the lime deposits commonly found in tea kettles. Cleaning a tea kettle with vinegar is very simple and will require only minutes.

Lemon juice can be used as a substitute for vinegar.

Step 1

Fill the tea kettle 1/2 full with water.

Step 2

Add at least 1/4 cup of vinegar to the water. You may add more vinegar if your kettle has not been cleaned recently or if there is significant lime deposit buildup.

Step 3

Boil the water mixture for several minutes or until the lime deposits have dissolved.

Step 4

Pour the water mixture out of the tea kettle and wipe the inside with a wet sponge.
