Naugahyde is a vinyl-covered fabric produced and trademarked by Uniroyal Engineered Products LLC. Most Naugahyde fabrics are coated with BeautyGard or Advanced BeautyGard protective coatings, which aid in keeping them clean and stain resistant. Naugahyde's Zodiac line of fabric is the only exception. It has no protective finish. This line still resists stains and remains easy to clean. Never use harsh chemical cleaners and solvents on Naugahyde, as they may cause damage to the fabric.
Mix a solution of 90-percent water and 10-percent dish soap. Apply to an inconspicuous area of the Naugahyde to test for potential damage, including bleeding dye. Then, apply it to the soiled area and wipe it with a clean, white dish cloth.
Rinse the soapy water away and pat the area dry with a clean, white dish cloth.
Use a brush with soft bristles, such as an old toothbrush, in combination with the soap and water mixture to remove tough dirt. Scrub gently but vigorously to clear the dirt away. Rinse with water and dry.
Apply a small amount of lighter fluid to the soiled area and use a white dish cloth to clean very stubborn stains or large amounts of dirt. Try this technique on an inconspicuous area first. Keep fabric away from open flames when using this method. Rinse with water and dry.
Combine a solution of 10-percent bleach with 90-percent water for tough stains. Test the mixture first on a well-hidden area of the fabric. Rub the solution gently into the fabric with another clean, soft white dish cloth. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry.
