How to Use Vinyl Siding on a Curve

Sarah Silverman

Vinyl siding is a plastic material that is used for cladding the exteriors walls of a house. While the most common installation application for vinyl siding is on flat, standard walls, you may come across non-standard walls such as ones that curve. You easily can modify the hardware for vinyl siding installation to conform smoothly and neatly along curved walls.

Learn how to attach vinyl siding on a curve.
  1. Have someone hold the starter strip against the curve of the wall while you nail it in place every 12 inches with aluminum nails and a hammer. Gently ease the strip around the curve so it takes the shape.

  2. Line the trim pieces up along the beginning of the curve. Make a small "V" cut in the back of the trim with the nippers at the point where the trim starts to come off the curve. Bend the trim at the "V" so it conforms to the curve.

  3. Continue along the curve by cutting a "V" at each angle that the trim can't conform to. Keep doing this until all of the trim bends around the entire curve.

  4. Attach the trim to the base of the starter strip with nails in 12-inch intervals. Fit the first piece of vinyl siding into the trim and ease the siding into the curved shape.

  5. Attach the siding to the wall along the top edge with nails. Work up from the first row of siding to attach all of the pieces in the same way. The bottom edges should snap into the top edges of the preceding pieces.
