Warnings

  • Be sure you know going into the rent-to-own store about the interest rates that will be attached to your new product purchase. This can get expensive. You could be paying three times more for a riding lawn mower by making payments than you would be if you bought a new one at another store where you will have to pay everything at once--however, they may do a credit check.

Buying a riding lawn mower without credit is easier than you might think. You can go to any rent-to-own store near you where it does not matter if you don't have credit or if you have bad credit. A rent-to-own store may not be the only place to purchase a riding lawn mower with no credit, but it is the easiest since they do not do a credit check. Once you go through all the steps to rent or lease your riding lawn mower, they will approve you.

Find a rent-to-own store near you. This can be any kind of store that will allow you to purchase new or pre-owned products from them with bad credit or no credit at all. These kinds of rent-to-own stores will let you rent or lease different types of things such as furniture, lawn mowers, computers, televisions and appliances.

Fill out the application

Fill out the application. The application consists of your name, where you work, how much money you make and any references you have that can provide feedback on you. The references needed are people who know you. The rent-to-own store will call these references and ask them how well they know you and where you work. You will have to provide three to five references. This can be family members, coworkers or friends.

Pay stub

Provide proof of income. After filling out the application, you will be asked to provide proof of income. This can be a pay stub from where you work or your rewards letter from the social security administration proving you are getting social security benefits.

Pick out your riding lawn mower. Browse through the rent-to-own store and choose the perfect riding lawn mower for you. Ask the sales clerk questions about it, and find out what the payments will be. Payments to these types of stores include the monthly payment and any interest the store will include.

Make your first payment

Make your first payment. Rent-to-own stores require a first payment. They do not go by your income; the payments are the same for everyone. Whatever day you buy the lawn mower, they will charge you a first payment for the remaining days of the month. For example, if you are purchasing your new or pre-owned riding lawn mower a week before your next payment, you will only have to pay for the week. If you are purchasing the riding lawn mower at the beginning of your pay period, you will have to pay for the whole month.
