How to Restore a Dry Erase Whiteboard

A dry erase whiteboard is a great tool for jotting down notes and brainstorming project ideas. Over time they tend to loose their luster and become harder to erase and use. Instead of throwing it out and buying a new one you can restore it to like new with a few easy steps.

Restore a Dry Erase Whiteboard

Step 1

Erase the board.

Use a dry erase eraser and erase everything on the board as best as possible.

Step 2

Clean the board.

Use a whiteboard cleansing solution to clean the board. These can be purchased at most office supply stores, such as Staples or Officemax. You can also use a vinegar and water solution. Wipe it down with a paper towel or rag. Insure that the board is completely dry.

Step 3

Spray the board with WD-40.

After spraying the board let it soak in and let it sit for a couple of minutes. After, you can wipe it away with a paper towel. The WD-40 will fill in the pores of the whiteboard. This will make it easier to erase. This will restore your whiteboard and make it much easier to use.

Step 4

Clean the dry erase eraser

Be sure to thoroughly clean your eraser before using it on the restored board. You may think about replacing it. It is far less expensive to replace an eraser then a board.
